If the knots in the wood around the windows are starting to move outwards, this could be a sign of insect infestation, so appropriate treatments should be applied straight away.

Checking chimneys and eaves for the presence of animals or insects can be a crucial part of these checks; either situation could lead to extensive damage, so it is worth dealing with these as quickly as possible. The use of citronella oils can be a pleasant addition to log cabins, while helping to keep away pesky insects.
