Garages
Whether your current garage has become run down and needs replacing, or you’re planning to add one to your premises for the first time, garage construction can be intimidating.
Considering issues like the cost of building materials, planning permission and project scope can feel like a juggling act, but a simpler and stress-free option exists in the form of a log cabin garage.
Self-build garage kits are available from us here at Logspan that allow property owners to access a bespoke timber building to keep their car, boat or motorcycles safe. Far more affordable and easier to erect than a stone outbuilding, wooden garages are designed for years of use for the fraction of the price.
Timber garage styles and features
While utterly bespoke garages are always possible with our expert team, we have a wide variety of styles that suit different needs.
Available in a range of shapes and sizes to suit available space on your property and personal storage needs, you’ll find options range from simple wooden carports to deluxe double garages that can fit two vehicles.
Whether you’re just storing your garden tools, a large lawnmower, your cars, boats or bikes, you’ll find an option with adequate room available manufactured from wood.
Most cabin garage designs feature an apex roof for superior drainage, but overhang distance varies between models. Some cabin garage roofs can feature shingles, and customers can select from a range of different colours including red, green and blue to suit their personal taste.
Timber garages typically favour large double swing doors to make it easier for vehicles to leave and enter. However, additional side doors can be valuable for quick access on foot.
All doors come with durable locks for enhanced security. Some wooden garage models are designed for dual usage, and on top of keeping vehicles sheltered, also offer space to serve as a storage space of workshop.
With plenty of space, vehicles can be parked centrally or safely to the side, away from ongoing work or stored items that can cause scratches.
How much do log cabin garages cost?
With an understanding that garage buyers often have a budget they must stick to, we offer a wide range of kits at different price points.
The cost of a log cabin garage is impacted by several different factors, including the complexity of design and style, number of features and, most importantly, size.
For example, simple carport frames and basic one-vehicle options will always cost less than double garages, or those with a dedicated space for hobbies and workshops.
Customers can also select to customise a standard garage option with additional features. Whether extra doors and windows or a useful loft space is required, we can adapt an existing garage design you like with your special requests.
Regardless of their price tag, all the wooden garage kits that we manufacture and supply are made with the highest quality materials, and when taken care of properly, are designed for many years of active service.
What are timber garages made from?
Like all the log cabins we offer, the wood used in our timber garage kits is sustainably grown Scandinavian spruce.
While our wooden garages all ship with a treated base frame to protect their foundation, the rest of the wood must be treated swiftly.
Timber is a natural material and, as a result, it expands, contracts and moves continuously, but proper treatment will ensure it remains in excellent condition. Both the exterior and interiors of timber garages should be treated before you outfit them.
When log cabin garage designs feature windows, sturdy 4mm glazing is used, and garage doors are fitted with a robust double action euro lock as standard. For easy assembly, wooden garages feature double tongue and groove construction.
