Creating log cabins inspired by nature

One of the reasons why bespoke log cabins are so popular is that they bring a sense of connection to nature and the natural world. 

Although much of this is achieved with the use of environmentally friendly materials and locally sourced tradespeople, there are other ways of bringing this style to outdoor huts and gazebos.

The naturalistic or biophilic approach to interior designs is all about connecting to nature, and in the case of log cabins, this can be done in several ways. 

One of the easiest methods is making sure there is plenty of natural light in the garden cabin room. Larger windows will help achieve this, as well as making sure the location of the structure is in an open and sunny spot. Often, building log cabins on a higher spot will help to avoid too much shade.

Having bigger windows installed in the likes of garden rooms in the UK will also have the added bonus of creating views of the outside world. Having a range of plants and fauna planted outside a window will increase this impact. As well as the addition of greenery outside the likes of a garden cabin room, there should be space inside too, to include indoor plants and foliage. 

Soft furnishings made from natural materials and muted tones is another interior design trick to achieve a biophilic-inspired interior, and having furniture items that imitate natural materials also helps.
