Selecting the right glazing for your log cabin

Bespoke log cabins may be fitted with either single or double-glazed windows, and each has their merits.

Choosing the best one for your outdoor huts and gazebos could very much depends on several factors. Single glazed windows, for instance, are ideal for cabins that do not require a high level of security. These could include BBQ huts, or places used to store spare BBQ accessories.

This is also a good option for those on a limited budget, as single glazed windows are often more affordable than double glazing.

It is worth bearing in mind, however, that single glazing does not maintain the heat inside log cabins as well as double glazing. In hot tub garden rooms, the continuous steam and condensation could lead to mould when single glazing is used.

Double glazing is perfect for those bespoke log cabins that need extra security. These could include a school cabin or a garden office cabin, or any other cabin in which expensive items are kept. This option is also usually the better one for keeping log cabins warm and dry. In the long term, this is usually a more energy efficient way of maintaining the log building.

Double-glazing is the more expensive option, and can often require heavier frames that some log cabins may not be able to handle.
